Information

This aircraft was constructed back in 1978-1979. It was the very first serial produced example of the Super Puma, and a result of the further development of the AS 330 Puma, via two prototype aircraft. The helicopter was constructed as an F-version of the AS 332 - a military naval version equipped for anti-submarine warfare. It was later converted to a C-version and later a "C1". It had earlier been registered in France, Canada and Italy before it was sold to the Norwegian company Helicopter Transportation Group AS. It was immediately put in service as a heavy-lift aircraft with the company Airlift AS, based at Førde Lufthamn in Norway.

Heavy Lifter
LN-OBX, or "Obélix" as it is called, is Scandinavia's most powerful heavy-lift helicopter and is used for tasks all over the northern parts of Europe. Some of the special equipment attached to the helicopter are bubble-doors and a special bar between the gearbox and the cargo hook, which makes it able to lift more than 4.000 kg.
One of the first larger missions carried out with the helicopter was a large lime-wash operation in Jämtlands county (Sweden) in cooperation with Osterman Helicopter AB.

The aircraft was leased by the Icelandic Coast Guard for a period of time (2006 to ~2009).

LN-OBX was repainted to the formal Airlift livery in February 2015.
