This helicopter was the second S-55 in Sweden, after SE-HBA
. It was manufactured by Sikorsky in 1955, and reached Sweden in July the same year.
The helicopter was used for various evaluation purposes by the Swedish military, but the type itself was never acquired by the military.
The helicopter had a very short career. It had an accident following an engine malfunction in Gothenburg in the summer of 1957. The aircraft was repaired, only to be lost in a new accident in February 1958, when the helicopter broke through the ice near Ornö in Stockholm's southern archipelago.
