Information

This helicopter was imported from the Hughes factory back in May 1966 by AB Helikoptertjänst in Bandhagen, Stockholm. It was operated by the company for several years and was even sent on an expedition to Greenland ('Expedition Myskoxe') in August 1969. The machine was transported to Greenland from Tromsö in northern Norway on the ship Harmoni. Two pilots, Schylström and Fredriksson, and one mechanic, Welander, joined the expedition. A total of 44 musk ox bulls were captured and 25 were kept for the transport back to Norway. The reason for the expedition was to re-implant a herd of musk ox bulls in Norway.rnrnThe helicopter became a member of the Sterner-fleet in April 1975 as Sterner Aero AB acquired AB Helikoptertjänst. However, the machine was pretty much used for the same kind of activities as earlier - powerline inspections and photographic flights.rnrnIn June 1982 the helicopter was involved in an accident when it struck a powerline on take-off from Sunnansjö. The helicopter was destroyed, but the intention was to rebuild the aircraft to an airworthy condition.

The registration SE-HSS was reserved for the aircraft by a private person in Borlänge, but it was never used. The helicopter did never return to an airworthy condition.
