Information
This aircraft was constructed by Leonardo's Helicopter Division (formerly AgustaWestland) in Vergiate, Italy, in early 2018. It was intended for a new contract won by
Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance, which opted for the replacement of the ageing S-76C+ (
SE-JUX) in the Västra Götaland Region.
SE-JSJ arrived in Sweden in mid May 2018.
Active dutyThe helicopter was put in active duty on the 1st of June 2018, and the helicopter made its first EMS mission around 5 PM. It became the fourth AW169 to enter active EMS duty in Sweden, after Östersund, Gällivare and Lycksele.
SE-JSJ replaced the S-76C+
SE-JUX, which had served the region since March 201+ (when it replaced the
SE-JUC). The Västra Götaland Region had used S-76 helicopters since the Gothenburg base was established base back in January of 2002.
