Fatal EMS helicopter accident in Norway

A Norwegian emergency medical service helicopter was involved in a fatal accident northwest of Oslo today. The EC135 helicopter from Lørenskog was approaching the scene of a truck accident when it impacted the ground near the E16 highway at at Sollihøgda. There were three people on board the helicopter at the time of the accident. Two crew members, the pilot and a doctor, were confirmed dead on scene. A third man was airlifted to the Ullevål University Hospital with serious injuries.
Norwegian media shows video clips of the helicopter hitting power lines prior to the impact, but the root cause of the accident is unknown at this time. The tragic occurrence is currently being examined by the Norwegian Accident Investigation Board (AIBN).
