Jämtlands Flyg to close its Tärnaby base

Apr 07, 2015
The Swedish helicopter operator Jämtlands Flyg announces that it has decided to close its helicopter base in Tärnaby in order to focus on its main operations in Jämtland County. The Tärnaby base was established in a hangar between the mountain villages Tärnaby and Hemavan, in Västerbotten County, in 2007. Local base managers have administered the base since the start. The latest base manager is now in the process of launching a new helicopter service in the Tärnaby area.

Jämtlands Flyg’s CEO Sara Grinde says that it is time to take on new challenges, and adds that it will be great to have the business more geographically concentrated again. The company plans to establish a new field base at Åre Ski Resort this summer.
