Information
This helicopter was one of two Hughes 269As that were purchased by the Army in 1964 in order to evaluate the light helicopter's advantage compared to airplanes. The two HKP 5A that were bought (Z-95 and -96) were used by the Artillery Flight School at Brandholmen in Nyköping, but they came to be operated by the Army Flight Battalion at AF1 in Boden as well. The trials turned out negative for the helicopters as they were found too expensive and too small.
Z-95 was damaged in an accident in 1967, and its service with the Army was terminated.
The airframe of Z-95 belongs to the Air Force Museum in Linköping, but it was displayed at "Svedinos Bil- och Flygmuseum" in Falkenberg for many years. It was transferred to the Aeroseum Aviation Museum in Gothenburg in May 2015.
