This aircraft was manufactured at Airbus Helicopter's Donauwörth plant in 2018. It was purchased by Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance
(BSAA) and imported to Sweden in mid February 2018.
The helicopter arrived in Sweden on 22 February. A period of flight training and modifications will follow before the aircraft enters service as EMS helicopter in Stockholm County together with the sister ship SE-JSP
. The helicopters replaces the ageing EC135s SE-JFN
After years of appeal processes (and a revoked tender), the Stockholm County Council's new contract for the region's HEMS structure was appointed to Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance
in March 2017. The contract, which is valid for 5+2 years, calls for larger Airbus H145 helicopters to replace the current EC135s - a type that has been in service as EMS helicopter in the region for 19 years by then. The EC135s replaced the older BK117 in March 1999, after the previous type had served from the start in March 1994 (with initial trials being conducted in 1992).
