Information

SE-JID was constructed in France by Eurocopter in 2007 and came to be operated by Lloyd Helicopters in the US for a short period of time. It was exported from the US in 2008, and came to Sweden shortly thereafter.

The helicopter was acquired by Scandinavian MediCopter as a replacement for its current AS365N3 (SE-JIA) that was being used as intensive care helicopter in Uppsala, Sweden. The aircraft was modified for EMS duties and obtained a new paint scheme, before it was formally registered SE-JID in April 2009.

SE-JID entered service in Uppsala in May 2009, thereby replacing SE-JIA that had been in service since September 2004. SE-JID, which was pretty much in a brand new condition, offered a wide range of improvements over the 18-year old JIA, including upgraded avionics and EFIS displays. SE-JIA remained as a general back-up aircraft.

On 30 November 2016 Scandinavian MediCopter changed its name to Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance as part of a global branding synchronization with the owner Babcock International Group. The new profile included a new logotype, but the operation and the structure of the company remained the same.
