Information

This EC145 (BK 117 C-2) was constructed by Eurocopter in 2008. It was imported to Norway in the winter 2008/2009 and it came to be operated by Norsk Luftambulanse AS. LN-OOQ was later operated by NorCopter.

In 2013 the Swedish HEMS operator Scandinavian Medicopter (a subsidiary to Scandinavian AirAmbulance) saw a temporary need for an EC 145 as the company's own regular Visby-based intensive-care EC 145 SE-JJC) was to be used to start up a new HEMS station in Denmark. LN-OOQ would fill in for the regular helicopter while waiting for a brand new Bell 429 to enter service in Visby in April 2014.

LN-OOQ was replaced by a Bell 429 (SE-JRC) in April as planned, but the operation of the new helicopter was soon put on hold due to some weight uncertainties. The Norwegian helicopter was engaged as primary air ambulance in Visby again.

The main task of Visby's EMS helicopter is to conduct medical inter-hospital transports between the island and specialized hospitals on the mainland, as well as to reply to primary emergency medical operations across Gotland.

LN-OOQ was registered in Sweden in January 2015 (titled SE-JRO).

On 30 November 2016 Scandinavian MediCopter changed its name to Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance as part of a global branding synchronization with the owner Babcock International Group. The new profile included a new logotype, but the operation and the structure of the company remained the same.
