Information
This aircraft was constructed by Leonardo's Helicopter Division (formerly AgustaWestland) in Vergiate, Italy, in early 2017. It was the first in a batch of four helicopters ordered by
Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance in order to replace the EMS Dauphin helicopters in Gällivare, Östersund and Lycksele.
As
SE-JSG arrived in Sweden in the first week of April 2017, it became the very first AW169 in the Nordic countries.
Active dutyAround noon on March 21, the new helicopter took off from its new base at Vassara Heliport in downtown Gällivare on its first EMS mission ever. The launch followed after a long period of customization and training.
SE-JSG was the second AW169 in EMS duties in Sweden, after Östersund's
SE-JRA. It was followed by Lycksele's
SE-JSH a few days later.
SE-JSG replaced the AS365N3
SE-JRB, which had served the region since March 2012 (when it replaced the N3 Dauphin
SE-JIA).
