Information
This HKP 15A was constructed by AgustaWestland at the Vergiate plant near Milan (Italy) in 2006. It became the first HKP 15 to be officially delivered by AgustaWestland when it came to Sweden in February 2006.
The aircraft took off from the AgustaWestland production plant at Vergiate, near Milan, in Italy on 4:th of February, and continued through Germany via Stuttgart and Egelsbach before taking a break for the night.
Piloted by a Swedish crew of four – pilots Anders Sköld and Lars Blomqvist, technician Kari Sepänen and PR representative Nina Karlsson – the helicopter continued its journey to Linköping via Lübeck and Jönköping before finally touching down at its new home at the Malmen Helicopter Base at 16:00 on 5:th of February.
K-22 was in fact the second HKP 15 that came to Sweden, but the first one (
15024) was solely used for acceptance tests and had not yet been handed over.
K-22 was later re-registered from
15022 to
151752. It is one of twenty AW109s in service with the
Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing. Twelve of these are inland versions (HKP 15A) and the remaining eight are maritime versions (HKP 15B). The helicopters are stationed at the air bases in Linköping/Malmen and Ronneby/Kallinge.
