Information
This helicopter left the PZL Swidnik factory in Poland in March 1985. It had been flying with the Soviet Air Force and in Estonia (as
ES-XAD) before it was registered in Lithuania as
LY-XCA and came to Sweden as a private owned helicopter.
The helicopter was initially based at Sundbro airfield in Uppsala. In 2002 a lawn mower struck a rotor blade and the machine was grounded for quite a while. When the insurances had been sorted out and the helicopter had been repaired the current private owner sold the machine to a person in Sollefteå and purchased two new Mi-2s (
LY-HCS and -HCT) instead. The owner in Sollefteå repainted the machine and used it to transport spare parts to lumbering machines far out in the endless forests of Norrland. The Mi-2 was indeed a perfect machine for that purpose.
LY-XCA later returned to the Uppsala region, this time stationed at Vassunda airfield in Knivsta.
