SE-JIB

Information

This aircraft was constructed in March 1991 and was registered N365JD in USA. It changed owner and registration a couple of times throughout its time in the US before it was exported. In August 2001 the German operator Heli Transair purchased the helicopter from the Ohio based General Helicopters International. Heli Transair, based in Egelsbach, mainly used the helicopter for VIP purposes.

On 4 September, 2002, the Norwegian helicopter operator Lufttransport AS signed an ambulance contract with Västerbottens County Council, in Sweden. The contract intended a helicopter activity in four years, with two more years on option. The new activity would replace the one that was held with an Agusta-Bell 412HP, belonging to the Swedish Armed Forces Helicopter Wing.

Lufttransport AS purchased D-HNIK from Heli Transair on 31 October 2002 and gave it the registration LN-OLJ. It was flown to Tromsø, in Norway, where it was modified for EMS purposes.

Entering service
LN-OLJ entered service as ambulance helicopter "Lufttransport 995" on 1 December 2002, based in Lycksele.
The base was the first in Sweden to adopt a Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS). It was soon followed by Gothenburg and eventually all other EMS and SAR bases.

LN-OLJ was transferred into the Swedish helicopter register as SE-JIB in September 2005.

The helicopter underwent a technical "G inspection" in the autumn of 2011. It was given a new EMS livery at the same time.

In the autumn of 2016 Västerbotten County Council announced that it intended to replace the AS365 with a brand new Leonardo AW169 helicopter in late 2017.

On 30 November 2016 Scandinavian MediCopter changed its name to Babcock Scandinavian AirAmbulance as part of a global branding synchronization with the owner Babcock International Group. The new profile included a new logotype, but the operation and the structure of the company remained the same.

Retirement
On 27 March 2018 SE-JIB was formally replaced by a brand-new Leonardo AW169, SE-JSH. The new aircraft was part of a huge investment to renew the EMS helicopter fleet in northern Sweden. The helicopter was the third AW169 to enter service within EMS duties in the Nordics, preceded by SE-JRA in Östersund and SE-JSG in Gällivare. SE-JIB was formally retired after more than 15 years in service.

SE-JIB was exported to France in October 2018, where it was returned to the Airbus factory. It left Sweden via Östersund-Trollhättan-Lübeck in July 2018.
