Information
This helicopter was constructed at Eurocopter’s French Marginane plant in Marseilles back in 2000. It was the first Colibri purchased by Polarhelikopter (followed by
SE-JHB) - a company that had based its activities on two Hughes 500 aircraft (
SE-HLR and
SE-JCH).
The helicopter initiated its flight to Sweden on 8 December 2000 together with West Helicopter's
SE-JLA. The journey went in a two-ship formation via Dijon (F), Hahn (D), Lübeck (D) and Ängelholm (SE), before the helicopters split and Polarhelikopter's machine continued solo to the home base in Kiruna - one of the most northern situated cities in Sweden.
The helicopter was soon accompanied by its new sister,
SE-JHB, and the Hughes helicopters were retired. The EC 120s are used for a wide range of tasks - everything from reindeer herding to passenger transports and aerial works.
Polarhelikopter was acquired by
Kallax Flyg on 1st of January 2006.
SE-JHA remained in the Polarhelikopter fleet for a year, but was then transferred to
Kallax Flyg and provided with an all-red livery.
